ALLAHABAD: Around 2,500 students of 253 schools to which the DIoS office had served notice after the examinees were found to have registered themselves from more than one examination centre, would be appearing in the UP Board exams from Thursday. The notice was served on January 29. Several schools had failed to submit the explanation to the UP Board. Despite this, it has been decided not to jeopardize their career of students. The explanation was sought after students sitting in class 10 and 12 of UP Board applied online from more than one centre. As per norms, students could register themselves from only one examination centre. The schools, also serving as examination centres, were asked to give a report in this regard within February 5. However, after the scrutiny of the information feed by the registered students, the DIoS found that over 3,500 students had applied from more than one school. The DIoS said, "The UP Board is the competent authority to take appropriate action against the defaulters but students will not be allowed to suffer." This year, for the first time, students were asked to apply online for the exams and the schools were supposed to feed the data of the regular students. As per the regulation, the students were supposed to apply from one school only but it was found that they applied from several schools. At least 253 such schools have been identified where there were more than one registration and notices have been served accordingly. UP Board sources claimed that copy mafia is involved in the issue.
