300 prisoners to write board exams

ALLAHABAD: Around 300 inmates, spread across various jails, are nowadays spending a lot of time in their respective cells surrounded by books. They are busy preparing for the upcoming UP Board exams of class X and XII. These examinees include 22 women inmates, including 15 appearing in intermediate exams. 
 
These inmates would be writing their exams at centres spread across eight cities. UP Board record indicates that in 2014, at least 320 inmates had registered for exams, including 171 for high school and 149 for intermediate exams. In 2015, at least 131 students would write high school and 169 would appear in intermediate in class 12 exams. 
 
Ghaziabad Jail has the highest number (63) of inmates appearing in board exams. It is followed by Bareilly Jail (62), Lucknow (60), Gorakhpur (24), Ferozabad (39), Varanasi (23), Farrukhabad (18) and Banda (11).
